Check Phonological Awareness When a Child Can't Learn to Read

A child who can't learn to read needs help.
One area I always check is phonological awareness.
Phonological awareness can be taught and practiced.

Reading requires a reader to separate and blend sounds in words. This skill is part of phonological awareness. Phonological awareness is the ability to hear and manipulate sounds in speech. The highest level of phonological awareness is phonemic awareness. Phonemic awareness is the ability to hear and manipulate individual sounds in words. For example: Fish has three sounds. /f/ /i/ /sh/

I love this article for information and ideas to teach and practice phonological awareness.
